The leader of La Luz del Mundo church has pleaded guilty to several felony counts of sexual assault involving minors.

 Naason Joaquin Garcia was arrested in 2019 for conduct that occurred over several years in Los Angeles County. Two others were also charged at that time while a fourth individual remains at large. All of the individuals are associated with La Luz del Mundo. Over the course of the investigation and prosecution, prosecutors demonstrated that Garcia's criminal conduct was enabled by individual surrounding him and that Garcia used his position of trust and authority to sexually abuse children. Garcia will be sentenced on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
