(IID wants their customers to be aware)... Electricity could be in short supply this summer.
When that happens, the Imperial Irrigation District will issue Conserve Alert notifications. The green, yellow, orange and red notifications will seek voluntary participation on behalf of the IID energy customers to curb electricity use when energy supplies are tight, helping avoid power outages. The Green Conserve Alerts will generally occur during heat waves when electrical demand is high. Stage 1 Yellow is issued when Energy Contingency Reserve shortfalls exist or are forecast to exist. Stage 2 Orane is when the IID has taken mitigating actions and foresees, or has implemented, procedures up to but excluding interruption of firm load commitments. Stage 3 Red is when the IID is unable to meet contingency reserve or load requirements and load interruption is imminent or in progress. Customers are encouraged to follow the IID on social media, add their email through the onlime bill paying system or the IID Connect mobile app, or call the IID Customer Service Center to add their email to be aware when alerts are issued.
