(Karina B. Alvarez begins work)....Alvarez was appointed the interim Auditor/Controller by the County Board of Supervisors.

The appointment was on April 12 and it was unanimous. It was contingent on the clarification as to whether she could serve in the County position while also serving on a local school board. Alvarez solved that problem by resigning from the school board. She began her first day as Auditor/Controller on Tuesday. She fills the vacancy left by the forced resignation of Josue Mercado. Alvarez is expected to be elected to the position, as she is the only candidate on the June ballot.
