(Over 100 pounds of cocaine seized).....It happened at the Commercial Port in Calexico.
A 22 year old Mexican Citizen drove a commercial truck into the port. The tractor/trailer rig was sent for a more detailed inspection. Customs and Border Protection used the port's imaging system on the rig. They found anomalies at the bottom of the trailer. A K-9 was brought in to search the trailer. The K-9 alerted to the trailer. The CBP Officers conducted a detailed inspection and found a specially built compartment in the floor of the trailer. They found 38 packages in the compartment. The packages tested positive for cocaine. The packages weighed a total of just over 105 pounds. The cocaine was valued at around $1.4 million. CBP seized the tractor, trailer and narcotics. The driver was turned over to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security investigations for further processing.
