(COVID 19 update)...The new numbers were released Tuesday morning.

The numbers are provided by the County Public Health Department. According to the new numbers, active cases of the virus have increased. The Public Health Department says the active cases have surged to 99. That is up from the 59 cases reported last week. Deaths attributed to the virus have remained at 908. The variants of concern in Imperial County are still the Omicron and Delta variants. Since december 2021 there have been 1,080 Omicron cases reported in Imperial County. Since 2020, there have been 1,216 Delta variant cases reported locally. The variant cases, for the most part, have been reported in unvaccinated individuals between the ages of 18-49.
