Imperial Valley residents and community stakeholders will have a chance to make their voices heard at the community dialogue. The event is being hosted by the Imperial Valley Wellness Foundation. The event is part of the outreach to position the region for a $5 million Community Economic Resilience Fund, or CERF, planning grant from the State of California, to be shared by Imperial Valley and San Diego. CERF Phase 1 funding is designated specufically to support communities and regional groups in producing regional roadmaps for economic recovery and transition that prioritize the creation of accessible, high quality jobs in sustainable industries. Roque Barros, Executive Director of the IVWF says, The CERF Program is a once in a generation opportunity to secure large state and federal government resources that can truly make a difference at the grassroots level.
