A Border Patrol K-9 detection team alerted to the Jeep and agents then used X-ray imaging to scan the vehicle. Agents discovered 57 packages hidden in the quarter panels of the SUV. Fifty-two of the packages contained a total of 31.5 kilograms of methamphetamine. Five packages contained a total of 6.2 kilos of black-tar heroin. Total value of the illicit drugs is estimated at nearly $350,000. The driver was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
