U. S. Border Patrol agents intercepted a large drug shipment Saturday.

At about 2:05 p.m. Saturday a Dodge SUV approached the Highway 86 checkpoint. A Border Patrol K-9 detection team alerted to the vehicle and an inspection of the interior of the SUV led to the discovery of a nightstand with a false compartment. Ten packages of methamphetamine with a total weight of 64 pounds was found concealed in the nightstand. The drugs have a street value of over $244,000. The driver was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
