El Centro police have arrested a man stealing copper Monday afternoon.

Police were notified shortly after noon that a man was seen cutting a fence behind a building in the 200 block of W. Orange Avenue. Another citizen reported that the man was walking in the area of 3rd and Holt Streets. Police detained the suspect a short time later and arrested the man. He was booked into Imperial County Jail and charged with the theft.
