A woman reportedly stole a tip jar from an El Centro restaurant.

The theft was reported at about 7:45 p.m. Monday. The woman took the tip jar and punched a restaurant employee when they tried to stop her. The thief fled but was detained a short time later by a restaurant employee. The $13.34 taken from the tip jar was recovered and the thief again ran away. Police are continuing to look for the suspect.
