The Calexico Unified School District has an Acting Superintendent.

The district board named Dr. Brian Thurman, currently the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Risk Management, to serve in the Superintendent's position while the board searches for the next permanent Superintendent. Dr. Thurman will fill the void left when Superintendent Carlos R. Gonzales resigned and took a position with the Imperial County Office of Education. The board is working with the firm, Education Support Services, to gather community input through community forums and gather input on the hiring of the next permanent Superintendent.
