(There are reports BA.2 has been detected in the Imperial County)...It is the Omicron Subvariant.
The CDC says it is now the dominant variant in the United States. The reports indicate it is more contagious than the Omicron Variant, but it's effects are much less severe. There is no information as to where the BA.2 was found, or how many cases have been detected. The latest information from the County Public Health Department indicates there are 70 active cases of COVID 19 in Imperial County. Vaccinations in the County are at 94.9%, the highest vaccination rate in the state of California.
