(Matching funds sought for the Salton Sea)....The Salton Sea Authority are commending Congressional leaders.
They are calling for Federal Salton Sea Funding to match state investments. The SSA is commending the local federal representatives for their recent letter urging the US Department of the Interior, the Department of Agriculture, and the US Army Corps of Engineers to develop a near-term Salton Sea Funbding plan to fulfill the federal government's initial estimated Salton Sea landowner responsibility or $332.5 million. The Salton Sea Authority has been trying to get the federal government to substantially increase federal funding at the Salton Sea. They are very pleased that the local representatives are now stepping up. SSA President and Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez say Congress has passed laws to direct major funding to the Sea, and those laws have historically been ignored, both Republican and Democratic Administrations alike. They are encouraging the Biden Administration to match what the state has put on the table
