(Projects approved to improve air quality)...The projects were approved by the County Board of Supervisors, sitting as the Air Pollution Control Board.
They approved seven Urban Greening Projects and four paving projects, worth more than $6 million. The projects are funded through AB 617 Community Air Protection Program, or CAPP. These projects will all be located within the AB 617 Community Corridor of El Centro, Heber and Calexico. The Urban Greening Projects are at the Imperial County Office of Education, City of El Centro, and five projects in the Heber Public Utility District. The paving projects are in the Heber Elementary School District, Heber Public Utility District, the townsite of Heber and in the Central Union High School District. The paving projects have been shown to reduce Particulate Matter emissions. The Urban Greening Projects have been shown to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
