Police are investigating a hit and run accident that occurred early Wednesday.

At about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, El Centro Police were notified that an SUV had collided with the wrought iron fence at the Old Post Office Pavillion on South 5th Street. When police arrived, they found the vehicle was unoccupied and that, according to witnesses, subjects were seen running from the SUV after the collision. Apparently, no one was injured. The accident remains under investigation. Damage was confined to two separate sections of the fence and the lawn.
