(Vehicle lands in a canal)....The driver suffered fatal injuries.

It happened early Tuesday morning. Yuma County Sheriff's Office said the report was received at 5:51 Tuesday morning. The report was that a vehicle was submerged in a canal in the area of Avenue 19 and a half East and County 7 and a half Street. They say the initial investigation indicates a white 2017 Dodge Durango was traveling North on a farm road next to a canal. For unknown reasons, the vehicle lost control and slid into the canal. Bystanders were able to extract the driver from the vehicle and perform life saving measures on her. Unfortunately she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was identified as 35 year old Edith Garcia of San Luis. The Sheriff's office says the incident remains under investigation. They say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
