(One arrested attempting to smuggle narcotics)...It happened recently at the Highway 86 Checkpoint near Salton City.

A Blue Hyundai drove up to the checkpoint in the early morning hours. The vehicle was sent to the secondary inspection area, where a Border Patrol K-9 Team promptly alerted to the vehicle. Agents discovered narcotics hidden in the floorboard of the vehicle. They found 40 packages of Crystal Meth, weighing 61.62  pounds, with an estimated value of almost $216,000. They also found 5,29 pounds of Fentanyl pills with an estimated value of $84,000. The 28 year old male driver, the vehicle and the narcotics were all turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
