A pedestrian was struck by a car Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at about 10:22 a.m. Tuesday in the 11-400 block of Fortuna Road. Yuma County Sheriff's Office determined that 81-year-old Angelina Esparza, of Yuma, was struck by a car as she crossed the road. Esparza was treated at Yuma Regional Medical Center and then flown to a Phoenix area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
