(COVID cases increase).....The latest COVID 19 numbers were released Tuesday morning.

The numbers are provided by the County Public Health Department. The latest numbers indicate the number of active cases of COVID have increased to 4,207. That is up from the 2,962 cases reported last week. The number of deaths attributed to the virus are now at 823, up from 819 reported previously. There are 103 COVID positive cases hospitalized in the county, 30 of them are in Intensive Care. There are no more intensive care beds available in the county. 46 ventilators are in use. There have been 1,187 variant cases reported since 2020. The variants of concern in Imperial County are still the Delta and Omicron Variants. State Metrics for Imperial County indicate a positivity rate, 7 day average of 36.2%. New cases per day per 100,000 population are at 251.20. Almost 381,000 vaccine doses have been administered countywide.
