Calipatria received the largest amount. Their grant was for $7 million. The City is releasing details on how most of that will be spent. They will be constructing a new park and community center. They say the construction will be on land on Date Street. It will include a community center, a community garden, a splash pad, there will be picnic areas for the public and a gazebo. There will be a playground for toddlers, a parking lot with lining and fencing throughout. Sidewalks will be constructed leading to and including Date Street. The community center will serve as a recreation space for seniors and youth and it will serve as a venue for meetings and events. Officials say construction will begin as soon as possible.
