(Interim Police Chief Appointed in Calexico)...He is no stranger to the position.

Gonzalo Gerardo retired as Calexico Police Chief on December 31. The City Council in Calexico was then faced with filling the position, at least until a new Chief could be hired. They decided to hire someone with experience. The City Manager recommended the man who had just retired from the position. The council agreed, and Gerardo was hired as the interim Police Chief. City Officials say the move maintains continuity in the department and will assist in an easy transition once a full time Chief is hired. City officials say it could still be a few months before anb eligible candidate is chosen.
