The California Highway Patrol was kept busy with several traffic accidents early Wednesday morning.

Shortly after midnight, a big rig overturned on Highway 78 between Butler and Lugo Roads near Palo Verde. The big rig accident resulted in a hazardous materials spill and caused the highway to be closed for several hours. Cleanup crews remained on the scene well into the morning. One lane was reopened at about 7:00 a.m.

At about 6:39 a.m. a vehicle went out of control and ended up in a small dirt canal in the area of Barbara Worth Road and Even Hewes Highway. No one was injured.

At about 7:00 a.m. two vehicles collided in the area of State Route 78 and Seybert Road near Brawley. Two people were injured and transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital with injuries.
