El Centro Fire Department responded to an early Wednesday morning structure fire.

The fire was in a vacant house in the 800 block of Brighton. The structure sustained extensive damage to the rear and upper level of the empty house. Mutual aid from several other local departments responded to assist in fighting the fire. This is at least the second time this house has been burned. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
