The U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, The Blue Angels, arrived at NAF El Centro Tuesday afternoon.

The F-18 Super Hornets flew over the base and landed shortly after noon. The Flight Leader / Commanding Officer Captain Brian Kesselring led the team to their winter home. This years team includes Lt Chris Kapushansky flying the number 2 plane. Lt Scott Goosens flies the number 3 jet and Marine Major Frank Zastoupil flies the slot in the number 4 F-a8. Lead Solo is LCDR Cary Rickoff and the Opposing Solo is LCDR Julius Bratton. Narrator is Lt Griffin Stangel. Kapuschansky, Goosens and Stangel all joined the Blue Angel's Team in September of 2021. Winter training will begin immediately at NAF El Centro and the 2022 Festival of Flight is scheduled for Saturday, March 12 with the Blue Angels headlining the local event.
