A 75-year-old Sedona, Arizona man died in a head-on collision Monday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol the accident occurred at about 12:40 p.m. Monday on Interstate 8 west of Anderholt Road. A 61-year man from Ocotillo, California was eastbound on Interstate 8 near Anderholt Road when, for unknown reasons, his 2007 Chevrolet drifted into the center divider and then crossed into the westbound lanes of the freeway where he collided head-on with a westbound 2019 Lexus. The driver of the westbound car, a 75-year-old man from Sedona, Arizona, sustained fatal injuries. Two passengers in his car, a 78-year-old woman and a 53-year-old woman, both from Sedona, and the driver of the Chevy, all suffered major injurie and all three were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center by REACH Air. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision. The accident remains under investigation.
