If you drink, don't drive.
That's the message from the El Centro Police Department. To back up that message ECPD will hold a DUI Checkpoint Thursday night from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Friday at an undisclosed location in the city. During the checkpoint operation, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Sargeant John Tang said, " The safety of our community is and always will be our mission. We are looking for impaired drivers because driving under the influence is dangerous and puts others on the road at risk. Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
