(Two US Citizens arrested)....It was at the Highway 86 Checkpoint recently.

Two men were in a station wagon that poulled up to the checkpoint. The Border Patrol agent inspecting vehicles referred the vehicle to the secondary inspection area. A Border Patrol Detection Team alerted to the interior of the vehicle. A more detailed inspection resulted in the discovery of two bundles wrapped in cellophane inside an ice chest. The two bundles contained five separate packages of narcotics in plastic bags. Three of the bags tested positive for fentanyl and the other two bags tested positive for heroin. Further inspection also revealed marijuana concealed in the roof area of a sunroof compartment and methamphetamine inside the trousers of the passenger. The 33 year old driver and 39 year old passenger, both US citizens, were in possession of .68 pounds of fentanyl, about 3,000 pills, with an estimated value of over $46,400, 4.45 pounds o9f heroin, with an estimated value of almost $37,000, 2.01 grams of methamphetamine and 5.5 grams of marijuana. Both men and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
