The total number vaccine doses administered in Imperial County are now at 323,819. Health Officials say the vaccine is still the best way to combat COVID 19 and the variants. The new variant, Omicron, has still not been recorded in Imperial County. The Variant of concern in Imperial County is the Delta Variant. There have been 890 cases of the Delta variant recorded since the variant was first encountered in Imperial County in December 2020. The Delta Variant has been found to be the cause of the most recent hospitalizations and deaths in Imperial County. Officials say the vast majority of those were unvaccinated.
