U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers intercepted nearly a half ton of methamphetamine at the Calexico East Commercial Facility.
On Tuesday evening at about 7:00 p.m. , a tractor-trailer rig entered the cargo facility. The big rig was referred to the dock for further inspection where the port's imaging system observed anomalies in the front wall of the trailer. A canine team screened the trailer and alerted to the vehicle. Officers were able to locate a total of 30 packages of methamphetamine hidden in the walls of the trailer. The meth weighed over 866 pounds and has a street value of over $1,559,000. The driver , a 27-year old resident of Mexicali was arrested.
