Travelers are experiencing long delays at Imperial Valley border crossings.

Since the ban on non-essential cross-border traffic was lifted over the weekend more people are crossing from Mexico into the United States. Individuals who can show proof of vaccination with a U.S. approved vaccine may now cross the border for non-essential travel such as visiting family , shopping and tourism. Delays at the downtown Calexico port of entry have reached 3 hours and longer since the change.  The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has some suggestions for border crossers to include;  don't travel at peak times for non-essential reasons , be ready to verbally attest to their vaccination status and make sure you get in the proper lanes. With the change in traveler rules the CBP has reinstituted the prior pandemic hours of operation for the Calexico east port and Andrade.
