A multi-alarm fire was reported Saturday morning in El Centro.

The fire was reported at about 7:50 a.m. in the Posada del Sol apartment complex in the 1400 block of Imperial Avenue. El Centro Fire Department responded with 3 engine companies and then requested mutual aid from the Holtville , Calexico , the City of Imperial and Imperial County Fire Departments with a total of 30 firefighters on scene. The fire was confined to the attic space in two apartments and firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other units. Initially about 30 residents were evacuated with a total of 21 people and three pets eventually displaced. The American Red Cross assisted the displaced families. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
