(New Governor in Baja)....For the first time ever, the new Governor is female.

Marina del Pilar Avila was inaugurated during a ceremony Sunday. The ceremony was held at the State Center for the Arts in Mexicali. She began her six year tenure as the new Governor of Baja California on Monday. During her inauguration, she said she was committed to show what women can do. Dignataries from the United States as well as Mexico attended the ceremony. At 36, Avila is also the youngest person to be elected Governor of Baja California. She has previously served as a congresswoman and as Mayor of Mexicali, the capital city of Baja California
