Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a proclamation expanding the drought emergency statewide.

Yesterday's proclamation adds Imperial County as well as Los Angeles , Orange , Riverside , San Bernardino , San Francisco , Ventura and Orange counties to the state of emergency that was originally declared in July. The executive order calls on Californians to voluntarily reduce water use by 15 percent compared to 2020. The proclamation also requires local water suppliers to implement water shortage contingency plans that are responsive to local conditions  and to prepare for the possibility of a third dry year.
