(Newsom still Governor)....Voters throughout the state went to the polls Tuesday.
There were two items on the ballot. Should there be a recall of the Governor, and if there should, who should be governor. The state voters overwhelmingly said no to the recall. That means Governor Gavin Newsom will finish out his term. Locally, voter turn-out was a low 16.32%. According to the Unofficial Final Results released at 11:28 Tuesday night, 8,830 ballets were cast against the recall. 5,572 favored a recall. The Elections Department said 718 ballots were cast Tuesday. 1,700 ballots were Vote By Mail. 338 were early votes and 11,700 ballots were absentees for a total of 14,456 ballots cast in the recall election for Imperial County.
