Yuma Fire Department responded to a report of downed power lines in the area of 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues Tuesday afternoon.

Arriving personnel found power lines burning in the alley. As firefighters were containing the fire  smoke was reported coming from a nearby house. Firefighters then had to contend with the downed power lines , heavy smoke a fire that had spread to the attic of the house and extreme heat. YFD along with several other agencies worked for several hours to bring the fires under control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
