(IID Board agrees to stable ECA).....The Board took the action on the Energy Cost Adjustment this week.
They directed that IID"s ECA factor remain stable for the month of Sepotember. The action is an effort to lessen financial impacts on customers during high usage summer months, while working to provide fully dependable electrical service despite historic peak demand in recent weeks. The Board levelized the ECA at 2.7 cents per kilowatt hour. The ECA recovers increased costs of purchased power and fuel to the utility, which have increeased due to tight supplies and changing energy and natural gas markets. IID General Manager Henry Martinez said if the action had not been taken, the ECA would have doubled on its own to more than 5 cents per kilowatt hour to recover spiking purchased power and fuel costs.
