Dr. David Ballesteros has died.

Dr. Ballesteros served as Dean of the San Diego State University Imperial Valley campus from 1983 to 1998. Dr. Ballesteros is remembered for leading SDSU - IV through pivotal times as he worked beautify older facilities and build new ones s he helped grow academic programs and diversify the student body. The signature tower that rises from the campus library is named in his honor. The naming of the tower also recognizes a $25,000 gift given by Ballesteros and his wife to create an endowed scholarship for SDSU-IV students who study abroad.

Dr. Ballesteros passed away August 5, 2021. A viewing will take place on Sunday , August 22 , with a Celebration of Life to follow at Funeraria Del Angel in Chula Vista.
