A pedestrian was struck by a tow truck early Wednesday morning.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office , the accident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on the railroad overpass in the 2300 block of Pacific Avenue in Yuma. A tow truck that was northbound on Pacific Avenue struck a pedestrian who had been walking on the side of the road. Apparently the pedestrian , for an unknown reason , walked into the road and was hit by the truck. The pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center and then transferred to a Phoenix area hospital. The incident remains under investigation.
