(Travel restrictions extended)....It was announced by the US Homeland Security Department.
The travel restrictions are for the land ports of entry between the US, Mexico and Canada. The DHS said the ports would remain closed to non-essential travelers until at least August 21. The restrictions were originally imposed under and agreement between the three countries in March 2020. They have been extended every month since then. The purpose is to help stem the spread of COVID 19. This extension came after Canada announced Monday it will start allowing fully vaccinated US visitors into their country on August 9th for non-essential travel. Homeland Security says they will discuss following Canada's lead. Mexico has not commented.
