A 44-year old woman was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and several other violations and in the process a 2-year old child was turned over to Child Protective Services.

At about 12:35 p.m. Monday El Centro Police were notified of a woman standing in front of an SUV in the area of 4th Street and Interstate 8. The person calling police said that the woman had been out of the vehicle for hours and was either talking on the phone or arguing with herself and that there was a very young child in the vehicle. El Centro police responded and stopped the woman on the 4th Street onramp to Interstate 8. It was determined that the woman was intoxicated and she was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Child Endangerment. The 2-year old child was taken into protective custody by Child Protection Services.
