Crews are working to bring down the burned out shell of the Mayan Hotel.

Heavy equipment started working on the demolition of the eyesore at 6th and State in El Centro Monday. The plan , according to a supervisor on scene , is to open up access to the building and then to inspect and test for any hazardous materials such as asbestos before tearing down the rest of the building, The inspection and testing may take several days.
