Yuma County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man and a woman for mail theft and other crimes.

YCSO started the investigation back in 2019 after receiving numerous reports of mail theft in rural Yuma. Several victims also reported fraudulent activity and identity theft after their mail was stolen. Eventually one of the suspects was captured on video surveillance cameras trying to withdraw money from a victim's account at an ATM. The suspects were then identified and linked to the on-going mail theft investigation. On Thursday , July 15 , 2021 YCSO investigators arrested 29-year old Carlos Omar Gonzales and 40-year old Cecilia Gill , both of Somerton. The pair were booked into Yuma County Detention Center on multiple counts of Fraudulent Schemes , Identity Theft , Trafficking in Stolen Property and Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards.

YCSO investigators later served a search warrant at the suspects residence where hundreds of items of personal documents and mail were found. Among th items were stolen credit cards and debit cards. At least 20 victims have been identified.
