(Fourth Of July Holiday Weekend)....It officially gets underway at 6:00 pm Friday.

Independence Day is Sunday, but the Holiday is also observed on Monday, making it a three day holiday weekend. Most Government offices, include the Imperial Irrigation District and the County of Imperial will be closed on Monday. That includes banks and other federal offices. The 4th of July is considered a drinking holiday. If you are going to drink, don't drive. The California Highway Patrol goes into their Maximum Enforcement Period at 6:00 Friday evening and continues through 11:59 Monday night. As many officers as possible will be patrolling the roadways, with a special interest in drunk drivers. Other law enforcement agencies will also be on the lookout for all traffic violations, especially drunk driving.
