Another fire in El Centro.

Thursday night El Centro Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 300 block of Commercial Avenue. The fire was reported at 9:27 p.m. and involved an empty commercial building. Arriving firefighters found heavy fire coming from the roof of the single-story building. Mutual aid was provided by Imperial County Fire and the City of Calexico. A total of 18 firefighters were involved in battling the blaze. According to El Centro Fire Department reports , the fire was controlled within 15 minutes of the arrival of the first fire unit. All personnel were cleared from the scene after about 2 hours. There were no injuries reported and cause of the fire remains under investigation.
