(CBP Supervisor assists collision victim)... Calexico Customs and Border Protection Supervisors Nunez was driving near Alpine.
He was on Interstate 8 in a government vehicle. He came upon a two vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes. Nunez was the first law enforcement official on-scene. He found one vehicle on fire and a female victim in the roadway. Using the fire extinguisher in his Government vehicle he was able to put out the fire on the burning vehicle. He turned his attention to the victim after notified 911 Emergency Medical Services. An off-duty Emergency Medical Technician arrived and assisted Nunez in performing CPR on the unconscious victim. Emergency Medical Services, California Highway Patrol, San Diego County Sheriff's Deputies and Alpine Fire all responded. The respinding personnel took over care of the victims, traffic control and the damaged vehicles.
