(Anntette Buttner goes to jail)...She was sentenced Thursday.

Buttner was found guilty of two counts of perjury, one count of filing a false declaration of candidacy and one count of grand theft. She was in the Brawley court Thursday for sentencing. Before the sentencing the defense attorney had filed a motion for a new trial, arguing there was insufficient evidence for a conviction. The judge disagreed, saying he felt there was overwhelming evidence to convict. He sentenced Buttner to 3 years in jail and one year of supervised probation. The defense said they would appeal the sentence and requested Buttner remain free until the appeal is heard. The judge said today's the day, and now is the time as he remanded her over to the custody of the County Sheriff's Office. If the sentence is upheld, Buttner will serve her time at the County Jail. With the sentencing, Buttner was stripped of her seats on the Imperial Valley College and Imperial County Office of Education Board. The County Elections Department has said she will not be eligible to run for future office.
