(Rescue is a Bi-National effort)...It happened late Tuesday afternoon.

Grupo Beta from Mexicali received a distress call indicating a man and his son were lost after crossing into the United States illegally. Grupo Beta notified the El Centro Sectors Foreign Operations Branch at 4:45 pm. The FOB notified Border Patrol agents the two were lost in the mountains and were without water. El Centro's Mountain Disrupt Unit responded, using coordinates provided by Grupo Beta. Air support also responded. Agents say they located the two at 5:20 that evening. A welfare check was conducted and it was determined the two did not need medical attention. The two were interviewed and the agents determined they were Mexican Nationals, in the US illegally. They were transported to El Centro for processing and then deported to their country of origin. Since October, El Centro Sector Border Patrol have successfully rescued 104 individuals lost or in distress.
