Imperial County has received a $3 million grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development.

The money is in the form of a Community Development Block Grant and is the maximum amount one can receive under the state's guidelines. The grant , originating from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development , will be used for improvements to the Niland Colonia Sanitation District Wastewater Treatment Plant and Collection System. The plant , owned and operated under the Niland County Sanitary District. The improvements are crucial to provide an essential service to Niland residents.
