The numbers were released recently by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. In January Imperial County Unemployment came in at 16.5%, down from the December report of 17.5 percent. That is down from the year ago estimate of 19.9 %. This compares to an unadjusted unemployment rate of 9.2 for the state and 6.87% for the nation during the same period. According to the latest report, 10,800 eligible workers were unemployed out of a labor force of 65,000 in Imperial County. The local Jobless rate is still the highest in the state
