NAF El Centro will present the Festival of Flight Saturday , March 13, 2021.
The base is closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but the show will go on. The U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron , The Blue Angels , will highlight the events as they close out their 2021 winter training sessions at NAF El Centro. The Festival of Flight will be broadcast on KXO AM1230 and FM107.5 starting at 12:30 p.m. when the U.S. Navy Parachute Team , The Leap Frogs , jump over the base. Other attractions include two combat demonstrations by an F-18 from VFA-122 and a U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt will put on a show. The Blue Angels performance will start at approximately 2:30 p.m.
NAF-El Centro Commanding Officer , Captain William Perkins invites the Imperial Valley to enjoy the show as the grill in their backyard or gather with friends in the driveway and listen to the performers narration with commentary by Gene Brister and Carroll Buckley live on AM1230 and FM107.5. The demonstrations will be visible from almost anywhere in the Imperial Valley. As an added precaution , Captain Perkins said that the perimeter roads around the facility will be closed due to security protocols during an airshow and in accordance with FAA regulations.
